Modeling energy consumption related to mobility.
Displacements are responsible for 17% of the French GHG. These emissions have increased strongly during recent years. Emissions resulting from people’s mobility are rarely tackled as regarded as too complex to generate ambitious policies (their success is hypothetical and difficult to quantify). It is imperative to reverse the tendency and therefore, the priority is to understand :
What is the impact of people’s displacements in terms of emissions?
Which are the stakes, the explanatory factors?
What is the room for maneuver?
The urgency to answer these questions justified the development of Mobiter. This tool makes it possible to establish a diagnosis of people’s displacements on a territory from the mobility description to the quantification of the GHG emissions.
How does it work?
Mobiter is a data base, made up starting from varied sources (including/understanding for example the general population census and the results of the investigations, households displacements) interpreted, brought up to date and enriched by specialists in people transport. The model reconstitutes by reason a set of descriptive data of displacements: mode, range, commune of origin, commune of destination… coupled to consumption data for the vehicles The model makes it possible to obtain the power consumptions and the induced greenhouse gas emissions.
What is that used for?
Mobiter makes it possible to quantify consumption and the emissions of GES related to the transport of people.
The homogeneity of the data on France allows the comparison between territories.
Various cuttings make it possible to identify the responsibilities for the various modes, reasons, entities geographical…in a territory emissions. |
